Snowsport England Registration Available Registration is now open for 2012. If you intend to race at BARSC or any of the early season races it is advisable to get your registration in as soon as possible and certainly by the 1st November, unless you want to payt an extra £20! British Ski Cross Racers Emily Sarsfield and Peter Whelan Shine in Argentina Race win for Peter Whelan - 5th September 2010 Two South American Cup Ski Cross races took place today in Chapelco, Argentina where British Ski Cross Team members Emily Sarsfield, 27 and Peter Whelan, 21 competed in a field which included members of the Canadian Olympic Ski Cross Team. Yesterday's race was postponed until today due to high winds, making today a tough two-race day. Todays races were the third and forth of the 2011 season and in glorious sunshine and warm temperatures, Sarsfield finished 3rd and 4th in the ladies and Whelan finished 1st and 2nd in the mens. Both athletes carry over their strong finishes from the 2010 season where Sarsfield won the Val Thorens ladies Ski Cross Europa Cup and Whelan finished 5th in the mens. Whelan only broke into the British Ski Cross Team back in January and has continued to grow in stature since. "It was an amazing day and a good start for the 2011 season beating Davey (Barr) [6th in the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games]. "The results today have given me confidence for the upcoming world cup season." Peter said after the race.

Four Sandown Racers in 2010/11 British Alpine Squad Four Sandown skiers have been selected to represent Britain this season. Louise Thomas and Chemmy Alcott (now recovering from injury unfortunately) have been named in the eleven strong British Alpine Senior Team (two of only three women); while Jack Gower and Alice MacAulay have been included in the British Alpine Junior Team. Sandown members also dominate the English Junior team this season. But it is also also home to two superstar skiers. Britain's best female skier, Chemmy Alcott, is from Hove. And, as our Sports Correspondent Paul Belverstone found out, a 15-year old from Chichester is the best in the world in his age group - despite an obvious lack of snow at home!
