His first races were with Cranmore School and then as a Mini with Sandown. In his second year at children II he was selected for the British Children's Development Squad and traveled out to Slovenia to represent Britain in the Pokal Loka international race. He now skis for Reeds school and has had some excellent results in the recent season's races. He does not enjoy racing on plastic but is passionate about his snow skiing and is looking forward to his time in the England Junior team this year

Peter Bruton Joined: 2000 Status: Senior - Social Member Born: 1989 Parents: Anna and Gordon Short Biography: Peter began skiing with his family on ski holidays, in France, at the age of 4 and joined SPSRC at the age of 11. Peter was selected to the British Children's Team in CH2 and was a member of the ESSKIA squad at the World Schools Championship in Schladming. At Junior1 Peter was selected to the English Alpine Ski Team (and thence the British Youth Team) where he is currently in the A squad. Recently Peter was awarded the trophy for "The Best Performing Under 18" in Slalom at the British Senior Alpine Championships-Easter 2006. Following this Peter skied to become the Junior1 English Slalom Champion and both the English Overall and Junior1 Super G Champion at the English Championships in PSV 2006.

Lucas Burton Joined: November 2008 Status: Mini Born: 2000 Parents: Shelley and David Short Biography: Lucas stepped into his first pair of skis as a 2 year old in Courcheval, keen to emulate his older brothers. By the time he was 3, he had been bitten by the ski bug. Between 2003 - 2007 Lucas averaged approximately 4 weeks a season on snow, before joining Sandown Ski Race Club in 2008 after trials, aged 8 years old. A plucky and confident fellow and never short of a word or two, Lucas has thrown himself into club life and is a veteran of many training and race camps. With SPSRC, he has competed twice in the British Land National Ski Championships (Meribel), along with the English Championships (Bormio), as well as the Inter School Ski Challenge (Les Houches). Within his year group, Lucas has consistently finished within the top 6/7 nationally, and for the upcoming 2010/11 season as a final year mini, he has his sights set on some podium finishes. When not on snow, Lucas trains throughout the year on the Sandown plastic slope, and takes part in the LSERSA dry slope regional races. Joseph Davey Joined: May 2009 Status: Mini Born: 2000 Parents: Peter and Liz Short Biography: Joseph started skiing aged 3 and joined his Cranmore school ski team aged 6 and then Sandown Race Squad in May 2009, winning the Minis race at the Sandown championships in June 2009. Joseph has represented his school in both SATIPS & ESSKIA races and in 2010 came overall 1st in the under 11's at the SATIPS races at Hemel. Joseph also came 2nd in the Hemel Nationals in April 2010 in the mini 2 category. On snow Joseph has competed at the British schools championships at Les Houches for the past two years scoring a fourth place in 2009. On plastic George has represented his school in both SATIPS & ESSKIA races for the past 3 years and was pleased to have been on the winning team taking 3rd and 2nd place in the SATIPS in 2009 & 2010 respectively. Chris Dixon Joined: 1998 Status: Senior Born: 1990 Parents: Sue and Nigel Short Biography: Chris first learned to ski at Sandown dry ski slope and within six months had joined SPSRC. He is a veteran of nearly all the training and race camps from the very first Saas Fee Summer camp in 1999. Medal winner at the British International Schoolboys Championships in 2003/4/5/6 as a member of the Hampton school team which in 2006 were both National and International winners overall. Chris obtained his FIS licence in 2005 and took part in his first FIS race in Panorama, Canada, later that year. He also races on plastic and has achieved both individual and team medals, captaining the SPSRC dual slalom team to a number of medal positions. Chris is a member of the ESSKIA squad both on plastic and snow; he was part of the winning U16 Hampton School Team at the 2005 ESSKIA Dry Slope championships and selected for the ESSKIA squad representing England in the World Schools Alpine Championships that year.

He achieved Bronze Chamois and Fleche on Snow. He enjoys most sports and achieved his black belt in Karate last year. He now does most of his ski training in Dubai since the family moved to the UAE . He is looking forward to returning to Sandown although he enjoys the 'snow' in Dubai where he recently won Gold in the senior boys club race. .He enjoys skating in Abu Dhabi where he also swims and runs (although he prefers the Surrey weather and the club fitness training over running in the desert!) Medal winner at British International Schoolboys 2003, 04, 05 and 06 when he captained the winning Hampton School team and also won Gold in the Slalom at the 2006 BARSC Championships. Obtained his full FIS licence in 2004 and has subsequently competed in Europe and Canada. Currently rankled 8th in his age group in both GS and SL. Robert Fail Joined: 2006 Status: Junior 2 Born: 1993 Parents: Pauline and John Short Biography: To date, Robert's major successes have been as part of the Hampton School team which won the British Schoolboys Open Championship on snow in 2006 and the English School's U16 title on plastic in 2005. He was also a member of the English School's training squad in Norway in 2006. Robert first put on 'skis' at the age of 2, although he didn't really start skiing until the age of 4. He started racing on plastic at the age of 9, first with Bracknell and then Aldershot ski race clubs. He joined Sandown at the end of 2005 in order to concentrate on snow racing. As well as racing he enjoys free skiing, tricks, and in particular big jumps. Robert also enjoys many other sports including badminton, rugby and cricket.

George Harris Joined: 2000 Status: Junior 2 Born: 1992 Parents: John and Jaqui Short Biography: George has skied ever since he could walk and first learnt how to ski in Val d'Isere. He regularly attends many of the race and training camps organized by Sandown and, whilst he has had success in the past on the dry slope (he came second overall in the regional races in 2005), prefers being in the mountains and racing on the snow. George is a bit of a free spirit and whilst he enjoys his ski racing he also wants to ski off piste and perform tricks wherever he can!! He is also a member of the very successful Reeds School ski team who came first at the British Schoolboys in 2006. His father, John, is one of the coach's at Sandown.

James Sieber Joined: 2004 Status: Children 2 - Social Member Born: 1996 Parents: Val and Ray Short Biography: James Sieber started skiing aged 4 and joined Sandown when he was 8. In 2005 he came 3rd in the Mini GS race at the British Championships in Meribel and in 2006 he gained silver medals in both the GS and Dual Slalom at the British International Schoolboys races. In 2008 he came 3rd in the Children 1 Giant Slalom at the Schoolboys with Reeds and again in 2009. In 2009- 2010 he won the Bristish Schoolboys Open Schools Team Cup, came third in the British Schools Open Dry slope Team and second in the Open British Indoor Slope School's Team; all with Reeds School. On the dry slopes he has had numerous podium placings in Grand Prix, National and Regional dry slope races and came 2nd in Children 1 in the 2007 European Dry Slope Championships. He has come 1st overall in his age category in the LSERSA 2006, 2007 and 2008 series. In 2010 so far he has won the Norfolk Club National and the Welwyn LSERSA. He lives in West Clandon in Surrey and attends Reeds School.

Peter Edwin Whelan Joined: 1999 Status: Senior - Honorary Member Born: 1989 Parents: Kay and John Short Biography: Peter learned to ski on plastic at the age of 8 and did not set a 'ski' on snow until 18 months later. Soon after joining the club Peter attended the first ever SPR snow camp in 1999 and the following year won his first ever snow title, British Mini Champion at the Easter Championships held in Pitztal. This was followed by 4 successive years as a member of the British Children's team.. As a junior Peter spent 2 years with the national development team before selection to British Alpine team in 2006 for 3 years, where he won numerous British titles and achieved the world junior ranking of 7th in Downhill. Peter's first senior year although still a member of the national team saw a change in direction, moving over to Ski Cross, finishing last season in the top 20 europa cup standings, best result 5th at Val Torens in March. This season 2010/11 Peter now part of the British SX team will be competing in both EC and WC races around the world and time permitting hopes to also compete in a few Downhill races in europe. Robbie Willis Joined: November 2007 Status: Children 2 Born: 1996 Parents: Jane and Tony Short Biography: Robbie started skiing at the age of four on family ski holidays in Val Thorens and St. Anton. He went with his sister on a number of Kandahar ski camps and joined Sandown in September 2007 as a CH1 YR1. He competed in the BARSC, English, British and Scottish races that season. In the English Championships in 2009 he attained top 20 places in Super-G and Slalom and top 15 in Giant Slalom in his age group. He joined Hampton School in September 2009 and is a member of their ski team. His team reached the National finals in the ESSKIA series of artificial slope races last Autumn and he attended ESSKIA squad training in Geilo, Norway in February. He also skied for Hampton at the Schoolboys' races in Meiringen in January 2010. His best race result this season (2009-2010) was at the British Championships in Meribel where was 6th in his year on the second slalom run. His aim is to get his slalom and GS points below 200 next season. He is a brown belt in Karate, plays cricket for East Molesey and also plays golf and tennis
